Roderick Kersch created the Campfire Research Initiative to further the industry’s understanding of Medicare enrollees’ lived experience. The multi-year qualitative research program involved nearly 3,100 in-person interviews with Medicare Advantage and traditional Medicare members, conducted in 37 states. Unlike online surveys or claims-based analytics, it attempts to capture the authentic voice of the member through direct, voluntary, unstructured conversations in community settings. This deep, unbiased listening provides nuanced insights into member experiences, often in ways that challenge current industry thinking. In this webinar, we present findings from the research. You’ll learn: Which factors — beyond the cost of premiums — drive member decisions about enrollment and retention How the member insights translate into strategic decisions about optimizing plan benefits, increasing affordability, improving coverage and bettering member experience What patterns the research revealed, how they challenge conventional thinking about Medicare member preferences, and how to apply the insights to benefit design
